Bhoothnath Returns is an upcoming Indian comedy film, directed by Rohan Sippy and produced by Ajit Andhare under the banner of Pritish Nandy Communications. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Ayushmann Khurrana, Prachee Shah, Om Puri and Neena Gupta. Based on the 1976 novel of the same name by Dr. Sudhamoy Chattopadhyay, it tells the story of a boy who believes he is haunted by ghost in his neighborhood whose friends together try to help him exorcise himself from ghosts. The film will be released on 13 April 2015. Bhoothnath or Bhooth is a friendly ghost who lives in Indrapuram with his friends, their children, and some ogres. Bhooth is somewhat of an outcast because he is neither naughty nor mischievous, unlike the other ghosts in the colony. He runs a shop selling toys and trinkets from his hut, which is located near a temple. In spite of being an obsequious and humble ghost, Bhooth has many enemies, particularly the evil spirit Mohini who tries to scare him away from Indrapuram to claim it for herself. If anyone is to be frightened, it is only the people of his own colony and their children. Bhoothnath, or Bhooth as he is fondly called by his friends and neighbors, has a lot of success in Indrapuram. He prospers in business and makes a living without any assistance from other ghosts, who are forced to remain by his side as the only trustworthy members of the community. He even has a large following among children. The kids want their parents to buy toys from Bhooth's shop, yet parents do not want anything to do with him because they are frightened by his reputation as being on friend with ghosts. The children and his friends keep Bhooth's reputation as a friendly ghost alive, and they play tricks on their own parents so they will buy toys from him. The only person who realizes what is going on is Mohini, but her attempts to expose Bhooth fails every time. Bhooth has an arch rival in the form of Mohini, a cunning evil spirit who lives in a dilapidated house. Although she is fairly powerful, she has no friends because she scares the rest of the ghosts away. She tries to frighten away all children from visiting Bhooth's shop by dressing up as a ghost herself and playing tricks on them. However, she fails every time. Bhooth and Mohini have a fight one day, and Bhooth comes out victorious. He decides to take advantage of Mohini's insecurity and kindness by tricking her into thinking that he has bewitched her to do his bidding. After Bhooth disguises himself as an elderly woman and tricks Mohini into visiting him, he convinces her that she is bewitched and that the only way to get rid of the magic spell is for them both to live together as family. When Bhooth persuades her to come live with him, she tells him that she has no choice as the spell will not break without his help.
